Biography

Megan Burtt is a singer-songwriter, granddaughter of a 1940s big band drummer, child of the ’90s, and daughter of the Rocky Mountains. She grew up with a little bit of everything in her musical treasure box: the groove of her grandfather’s big band records, the soul of Americana, the folk traditions of the mountains, and an unapologetic love of a great pop earworm.

Her songs live somewhere in that mix—organic and soulful, but never afraid of a melody that gets stuck in your head. Megan writes about the messy, funny, beautiful business of being alive: love, loss, longing, mistakes, wonder, and all the lessons we pick up along the way. She has a knack for hiding little truths in her lyrics and melodies, sometimes the kind you don't fully understand until you've lived a little more.

An award-winning performing songwriter, Megan is the winner of the Kerrville NewFolk Competition, Rocky Mountain Folks Fest Songwriter Showcase, and Denver Westword Music Award for Best Singer-Songwriter. She has also been a finalist in the Mountain NewSong Competition, Telluride Bluegrass Songwriting Contest, Great American Song Contest, and Songwriter Serenade. She has played music on almost every continent and shared stages with artists including Gregory Alan Isakov, The Fray, Marc Cohn, and LeAnn Rimes.

Her latest full-length record, Witness, was praised by Guitar Girl Magazine as “surely one of the best albums of 2024.” She is currently working on her fourth full-length record, with new singles slated for release in early 2027. She is also a member of the country-western band Road Pony, where classic country gets a new ride.

For Megan, life and song are pretty inseparable. Music is the way she makes sense of things, and life is where she gets the material. Offstage, she has summited Mt. Kilimanjaro, survived a gluten-free diet for more than a decade, and discovered that she and Oprah share the same Enneagram number. She wishes she’d learned music in a Southern Gospel church, dreams of becoming an olive farmer in Spain, and figures life is a long time—and longing is a pretty good source of inspiration.
